The farmhouse, called Il Casale di Monica, is nestled in a scenic valley just a 10-minute drive from Assisi, the birthplace of Saint Francis.
Rates start at €100 per night for four guests. The property features a swimming pool, barbecue area, children’s playground, soccer and volleyball fields, a restaurant, and a bar.
This property makes a perfect base for exploring the Umbria region. Spend your mornings by the pool, enjoy breakfast, then head off to Assisi, Perugia, Spoleto, or Orvieto. Have lunch, explore a bit more, or head back to the house. In the evening, you can grill your own dinner or try a nearby restaurant. An ideal spot to spend 5 to 7 days.
Each unit comes with a private terrace and a table—we often enjoyed fresh fruit there in the afternoon.
The grill area is set in a beautiful olive grove.

The pool is best enjoyed at sunrise or in the evening. It’s always open to guests, but outside visitors can use it only from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Keep in mind that swim caps are mandatory in Italy. You can buy one for €2 at a Conad supermarket, which is a 5-minute drive away.
Spend the afternoon relaxing in the shade of the olive trees—that’s exactly what we did. Lounge chairs are free for guests.

There’s a fantastic nearby restaurant called Ristorante da Giovannino that we visit every time we’re in Umbria. It’s affordable, delicious, and highly recommended.
It’s just a 15-minute drive from the farmhouse. Another excellent option to consider is Relais Parco Subasio, where we’ve stayed three times already.
On our way from Rome, we had lunch at Gallo d’Oro Ristoro Medievale near Spoleto, about a 50-minute drive from the house.
