It was May when we decided to go to Assisi in Umbria– one of the most beautiful places in Umbria. The city where one will see Giotto fresco dated XIII century in the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi.
Umbria is one of the regions with no access to the sea but what a lovely landscape with the hills there is!
Assisi is just 200 kilometers away from Rome, and as we were traveling by car, there was no need to stay in the town. So, we were searching for a villa at the top of the hill.

Villa in Umbria: prices, facilities, and the atmosphere
I liked the house due to its location first of all. It is at the region’s highest hill with a fantastic view and a swimming pool to chill and refresh yourself on a sunny day.
Every morning we were waking up as soon as we heard birds singing. The price for 2 bedroom accommodation, ideal for two couples, is 80-100 EUR per night depending on the season. There are options for a company of 5-6 people as well. Check all the variants here.

All the rooms are clean and cozy. Open the door, and you find yourself at the terrace, enjoying the atmosphere with a glass of fresh juice or good wine. All the rooms are equipped with a kitchen, so buy products in advance for breakfasts. For lunch, choose restaurants in Assisi, Perugia, Orvieto, and Spoleto, depending on the town you visit.
The second time we were at this villa in Umbria was our friend’s birthday, and we stayed there for three days to show him all the beauty of Umbria. But, to tell the truth, we didn’t manage to get to Perugia this time as well as whenever you arrive at the region the only thing you want to do is to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature rather than rush for famous sightseeings.
We were chilling at the swimming pool, checked Assisi and every evening had an amazing dinner in one of the best restaurants in my life. My ideal place for harmony is found.
Important things to know:
- The villa is equipped with high-speed Internet, which is rather an exception than a rule in Italy;
- The swimming pool is open from June to September;
- The villa is closed from November till March as one can get there only by a tractor.
