Sperlonga is my favorite among all the seaside towns near Rome. The beach season in Sperlonga usually lasts from June until the end of September, but in October, April, and May you can still enjoy a comfortable stay—watching sunsets, strolling through the old town, or walking along the beach.
I’d like to share my experience in choosing a good hotel in Sperlonga for a perfect, comfortable vacation.
On the map below, I’ve highlighted in green the most convenient area to stay, and through this special link, I’ve filtered hotels with only good traveler reviews.
Let’s take a look at some specific options:
Page Contents
Hotel Amyclae
Hotel Amyclae, a 3-star property, boasts an ideal location right on the seafront. The rooms are impeccably clean, and the air conditioning works perfectly.
Breakfast is served on a terrace overlooking the beach, and private parking is available for guests. The cost of a double room is about €110 per night, with the option to stay with a child for an additional €20 per night. I would consider this one of the top choices.
Virgilio Grand Hotel
We stayed at the 4-star Virgilio Grand Hotel in April 2014 while celebrating my mother’s birthday. That’s when I fell in love with this charming little town, and my mother was thrilled by the empty beach and the old part of the city.
The hotel is just a 3-minute walk from the beach and has its own swimming pool. We traveled there by public transport from Rome, which was quite convenient, and later returned with friends by car. The hotel features a restaurant, gym, spa, and massage services. The staff are very friendly, and some speak Russian. Private parking is available for €15 per day and should be reserved in advance during peak season. I highly recommend considering this option.
Hotel Corallo
Hotel Corallo is rated three stars, but it’s a very cozy place to stay. The staff are polite and attentive, the rooms are clean with excellent housekeeping, and the property features its own small library and beautifully landscaped terrace.
The hotel offers stunning views of the town and beaches. I highly recommend watching the sunsets and sunrises from here. The hotel has an agreement with a private beach that provides excellent facilities and is exceptionally clean.

How to Get There
The distance from Rome to Sperlonga is 93 miles (150 km). You can reach it in 2 hours by car or use public transportation—train and bus.
By Train and Bus
Since Sperlonga does not have a train station, you’ll first need to take a regional train from Rome’s central Termini Station (Roma Termini) to Fondi-Sperlonga station. The ticket costs €7, and the journey takes 1 hour and 16 minutes.
From Fondi station, buses operated by www.piazzoli.it depart hourly to Sperlonga—be sure to check the schedule on their official website.
The bus ride takes 10 minutes. It arrives at Piazza Fontana in Sperlonga. Tickets are purchased directly from the driver for €1.50—be sure to have cash ready.
By Car
Driving to Sperlonga makes sense if you plan to explore nearby attractions, such as a day trip to the Royal Palace of Caserta (Reggia di Caserta) or Pompeii (Pompei). You could also visit Naples, although I wouldn’t recommend driving there without a guide—safe parking is scarce and you risk returning to find your car without wheels.

By Private Transfer from Rome
You can also pre-book a transfer to Sperlonga with reliable local driver Sergio from Fiumicino Airport or your hotel in Rome. He can comfortably transport your group of up to four people directly to your hotel. For groups up to eight people, a minivan ride will cost around €330.
I’m sure by now you’ve figured out where to stay in Sperlonga. If you need advice about your trip, feel free to ask in the comments.
