My friends asked me to find a hotel for a one-week vacation on the Tyrrhenian Sea in the city of Terracina.
Since the trip is planned for September and we only started searching for a hotel in mid-May, many good options were already booked, so I adjusted the travel dates slightly to fit the available ones.
Important: In August, prices can increase two to three times due to Italy’s national vacation period. Locals often book their favorite hotels for August almost a year in advance. Based on my experience, the best months for a beach holiday in Italy are from mid-June to late July and from early September to mid-October.
So, here’s the goal:
- Find the best hotel in Terracina based on reviews and location;
- Stay within a €1,000 budget for two people for a 7-day, 6-night trip;
- Here is a special filtered link to help you find great options.
Sharing with you a curated selection of the best hotels in Terracina that I put together for my friends.

Grand Hotel L’Approdo – 4 Stars
In my personal hotel ranking, Grand Hotel L’Approdo, a 4-star property, is undoubtedly the number one hotel in Terracina. Everything here is just right—private beach, a nearby pier with ferry departures to the Pontine Islands (Ponza, Ventotene), and free private parking. Each room booking includes complimentary daily use of 1 beach umbrella, 1 sun lounger, and 1 deck chair. Rooms offer stunning sea views.
Right near the hotel, you’ll find traditional pizzerias and casual restaurants serving fresh and affordable seafood. During the day, enjoy a stroll through the nearby pine tree park.
Downside: bookings at L’Approdo require a minimum stay of 7 nights. All rooms are standard, and the total cost for 7 nights is €1,128—slightly above the set budget, but you get to stay one extra night.
On the plus side, the price already includes 10% VAT and the €2 per person per night city tax—so no hidden fees. If your budget allows, go ahead and book L’Approdo—no need to read further.

Hotel Poseidon – 3 Stars
Hotel Poseidon is a 3-star property and one of the most recognizable hotels in Terracina, thanks to its ship-shaped design. From the terrace, guests enjoy a view of the outdoor pool, and the sea is just 165 feet (50 meters) away. A key perk for families is the dedicated children’s pool located in the garden. With early booking, a double room with breakfast for 6 nights costs €738 instead of €918.
Right behind the hotel is a large Conad supermarket. Rooms include a kitchenette, allowing guests to cook and save on dining out.
The downside is that the hotel is about 1.2 miles (2 km) from Terracina’s historic center—a 30-minute walk. However, bikes and cars are available to rent on-site for exploring the area.
Torre Del Sole – 4 Stars
Torre Del Sole is a 4-star hotel with a private beach, located slightly away from the historic center and main pier of Terracina.
Free shuttle service to the Terracina pier is offered several times a day. If you’re looking for a quiet and secluded seaside retreat slightly off the beaten path, this hotel is a perfect choice. A 7-night stay with breakfast costs €750, while the half-board option (breakfast and dinner) is €1,050.
The hotel also offers special family rooms for two adults and one child. Signature Mediterranean dishes are served in the hotel restaurant for lunch and dinner. During the summer, all meals are enjoyed on the open-air veranda.
Villa del Sole – 3 Stars
Villa del Sole is a 3-star hotel located right on the shore of the Tyrrhenian Sea—making it the most budget-friendly option in our roundup. A 6-night stay with breakfast costs just €558. With only 11 rooms available, reservations should be made at least 4 months in advance, ideally 6.
When it comes to value for money, this accommodation is simply unbeatable.
Apartments
For families with children, the Calliope Apartment is a great choice. The location is excellent—just a 20-minute walk from the main pier and no more than 5 minutes from the beach.
The nearby area features a fish market and grocery stores. The apartment is fully equipped for independent travelers: stove with oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, and kitchenware. Accommodations for four guests cost €978 for 6 nights.
