Parking in Syracuse

Парковка в Сиракузах Сицилия

The most convenient parking for visiting the main attractions in Syracuse is located on the island of Ortigia.

Enter the address Lungomare di Levante Elio Vittorini, 42 into your GPS and look for a spot along the waterfront. Parking costs €1 per hour and is paid through a special app.

Be careful not to enter the ZTL (Zona Traffico Limitato) area, as I wrote in this article. Fines can reach up to €70.

Paying for parking in Syracuse has its own quirks, and you’ll need the easyparkitalia.it app, as well as a pen and paper. The system works similarly to the one in Salerno.

In Syracuse, the zone code for parking is 1200 – you’ll need to enter it in the app.

You pay for the required time through the app, for example, 3 hours. Then, write “EasyParking” on a piece of paper and place it in a visible spot inside your car.

Once the parking issue is sorted, you can start exploring the attractions. I recommend starting with the market, where you can enjoy the best panini in the world, made by Signor Andrea. Then, visit the Temple of Apollo, the Fountain of Diana, Maniace Castle (Castello Maniace), and, of course, the Cathedral of Syracuse.

Personal Experience

The drive from the farmhouse Agriturismo Case Don Ignazio, where we stayed, took about an hour. Check out my video review of the farmhouse. We planned our visit to Syracuse right after breakfast in the morning. We arrived around 10:00, started at the market, walked around the entire island of Ortigia, and returned for lunch at Signor Andrea’s place, Caseificio Borderi. There is always a queue.

Our guide from Catania gave us this tip. One panini is more than enough for two people – it’s filling and incredibly tasty.

Around 1 p.m., we headed back toward the farmhouse, stopping at Lido di Noto beach for a swim, had some coffee, and returned to rest and prepare for an evening walk and dinner.

I recommend checking out my 10-day itinerary for Western Sicily.
