Football in Rome is more than just football, and even attending an ordinary Serie A match of the Italian Championship will bring you incredible emotions and impressions that will last a lifetime. All that remains is buying tickets, which can be done simply using the instructions below.

Our adventure in buying football tickets in Rome will start at the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore (Basilica di S. Maria Maggiore). But, first, you need to get to Piazza dell`Esquilino – a 10-minute walk from Termini Central Station. This is how Santa Maria Maggiore looks from the Via Cavour side.
Turn 180 degrees and cross the road. The ticket sale point is located on the left side of Piazza dell`Esquilino.
If you got to Santa Maria Maggiore by bus No.70 or No.71 and got off at the Esquilino-Cavour stop, then looking at the church, turn right, and you will see a bar, and next to it is the desired ticket office with the inscription Orbis.

The ticket office is open on weekdays from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00, and on Saturdays until 13:00. Sunday is a day off.

Cost of the tickets
The price for football tickets in Rome depends on the importance of the match. For an ordinary match of Serie A, prices will start from 15-20 EUR, and for matches of the Champions League or championship leaders, for example, Roma – Juventus, tickets will be in the range of 35-100 EUR, depending on the tribune.
Children under 5 years old enter the stadium free of charge. An interesting fact is that substantial discounts are provided for fans under 14 and over 65 years old and women. For example, for an ordinary match Roma – Parma in the Distini Nord/Sud sector, a regular ticket costs 35 EUR, fans under 14 and over 65 go for 24 Euros, and tickets for women cost – 31 EUR. That is the pricing policy.
Which Sector to Choose
The most prestigious and expensive sector is the Tribuna Monte Mario Top. The cheapest are fan-made Curva Nord and Curva Sud – this is where you need to go for super sensations. The less extreme variant is Distini Nord or Sud. Read more about the Olympic Stadium in Rome (Stadio Olimpico).

Please note: you can buy football tickets for cash only. Since the tickets are personalized, you should have an identity card with you. Even a photocopy will do.
How to Buy Tickets in Advance
You can buy tickets for a regular championship match a day or two in advance. Usually, top-match tickets appear 2-4 weeks in advance, and only the most expensive seats remain closer to the date. You can contact your friends in Rome, send them photocopies of your IDs and money and ask them to buy you tickets in advance.

The closest to Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore Roma fan store is located at Via Merulana, 10.
Prices for branded merchandise are pretty decent. For example, a Basic Roma T-shirt costs 48 EUR, while those with Totti are 80 EUR.

How to Get to Stadio Olimpico
All football matches occur at the Olympic Stadium (Stadio Olimpico) in Rome. It is quite far from the city center, and it will take about an hour to get there by public transport. Get off at Ottaviano Metro Station – Line A. Take bus 32 to Stazione Saxa Rubra and get off at the 6th stop – Lungotevere Cadorna – Ostello Gioventu. A 5-10 minutes walk, and you will find yourself at the stadium.
Please note: Roman buses stop on-demand only. The best option would be to ask the driver in sign language or in Italian to drop you off at the desired stop.
Your journey back will be much more fun, as the football games in Rome end at around 11:30 pm, and you will get out of the stadium around midnight. Options are as follows: to stomp 7-8 km to the city center on foot; look for a night bus (which runs once an hour); take a taxi; or order an individual round-trip transfer from a friend of ours – Sergio.
