7 Reasons not to Worry about Weather in Rome

What’s the weather in Rome? What to wear? Please stop worrying and let’s just plan your ideal holidays in Rome.

If you aren’t constantly checking the weather forecast on your mobile app, google the latest news not to stress yourself. Read points 1 to 3, and that will be enough. There are plenty of other articles about Rome that are worth your attention.

  1. Rome is a warm city. It’s at least 10 degrees Celsius higher than in other European cities and is very sunny, so do take your sunglasses even if you travel in winter.
  2. November – Murch is considered to be a rainy season, which means fewer tourists – so, use this benefit. July – August is extremely hot, and the temperature is about 40C. But do not worry, just start your early-morning walk from 5 a.m. till 10 a.m. Yes, you have to wake up early, but believe us, you will enjoy the city: fresh air and no crowds. Then come back to the hotel or apartment, relax, take a nap, and head to the evening walk along the Tiber and Trastevere area about 9 p.m.
  3. To tell the truth, we don’t believe in weather forecasting, especially when it comes to forecasting more than 6 hours ahead. At least in Rome, it doesn’t work. A small cloud can suddenly appear from nowhere, and heavy rain is there for 5-15 minutes. Or the opposite, the app showed heavy rain all day, but not a single drop fell down.
  4. Keep in mind the weather is unpredictable. The only thing we as humans can do is take it easy and find ways to enjoy it.
  5. Sometimes locals forget how to use an umbrella and what it is for as there can be no rain at all from May to October.
  6. Rome is located just 30 km away from the sea, so the weather may often change. In general, it’s about five days per year when it is raining all day long. Usually, rain in Rome is for 10 – 15 minutes several times during the day and you can easily escape it and spend this time in a glorious church, basilica or take a cup of coffee in the closest bar to you.
  7. Snow. It was my dream to see snow in Rome! February 2012 – the second last time when it was snowing in Rome. However, I was so happy to see snow in 5 years, on 26 February 2018 – that was amazing! The next time can happen in 10-20 years.
